I have been in the business of creating natural Body care products for over 10 years now. Willow Moon is a cottage industry business created in our home out of a need for gentle, chemical free, skin nourishing body care products. We use only the highest quality ingredients in our products, we do not use any commercially manufactured bases or mineral oils in any of our products You won't see anything on our ingredients list that you can't pronounce. We've spent a lot of time researching and formulating our lotions, soaps and bath products and are sure you will find them to be even better than commercially manufactured products. How our soaps are made
Our soaps are made using the cold process kettle method in which an alkeli (sodium hydroxide) and a base (oils) are combined at just the right temperature, when they react with each other the result is soap. The soap is poured into molds, covered and allowed to set for at least 24 hours before being un molded and hand cut into individual 4 oz. bars. The bars of soap are then allowed to cure for 3-4 weeks before being hand wrapped. Our soap is never "milled" a process commercial manufacturers use to give bars hardness and uniformity. Milling soap robs it of it's natural occurring skin softening glycerin. Willow Moon soaps are made in small quality controlled batches with only the highest quality oils, herbs (organically grown herbs are used in the majority of the soaps) and essential oils. We use only natural colorants in our soap obtained through herbs, spices, botanicals, oxides and ultramarines. The scents in our products are obtained through 100% pure aromatherapy grade essential oils and only the finest pre-tested fragrance oils. (Fragrance oils are used to offer a wider variety of scents that cannot be obtained through essential oils). All of our products are tested on very willing volunteers ~ family, friends and myself included.

Some of the Ingredients used in our Products

Cocoa Butter : a creamy, fatty wax that is solid at room temperature. It is obtained from the seeds of the cocoa plant. It is an excellent skin softener.

Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is a solid white oil at room temperature. . It preserves the skin and hair by providing a protective layer that locks in natural moisture. It also gives a rich lather to soaps.

Beeswax: A wax secreted from the underside of bees which they use to make walls of the honeycomb. It forms a protective barrier on the skin to guard against lost moisture and environmental irritants

Lavender oil: The most versatile of all essential oils. Because of the high percentage of linalool that it contains, lavender oil is excellent for promoting healing and for balancing the skin. It is an antiseptic, analgesic, antibiotic, antidepressant, bactericide, decongestant, and sedative. It helps to reduce scarring and also stimulates the growth of cells.

Olive oil: Natural oil used as an emollient in soaps

Rosemary oil: An essential oil invigorating to the circulation as well as to the psyche.

Shea butter: Karite nut butter. A fatty substance obtained from the nut of the karite nut tree. A natural cellular renewal ingredient, it has excellent moisturizing and nourishing abilities as well as being a natural sun block.

Hemp Seed Oil: Hemp oil is rich in essential fatty acids that replenish dry skin, preventing cell loss and causing younger looking skin. It contains 8 of the hard to find polyunsaturated Essential Fatty Acids which have the ability to enter directly into the lipid layers of dry skin cells and replenish the oils missing through poor nutrition and sun damage.

Epsom Salts: Epsom salts are a fine white crystal powder. Soaking in these salts is very soothing to sore muscles because the salts are mildly astringent.

Sea Salt: Detoxifies the skin

Oatmeal: Oatmeal has gentle cleansing properties and is nontoxic and soothing to the skin, it is especially good for sensitive skin

Rosemary oil extract: Rosemary oil extract (ROE) is a powerful antioxidant used as a natural preservative.

Calendula: Also known as Pot marigold, Calendula acts as a skin cleanser and softener, often used as an antiseptic to help wounds and rashes heal, sooths inflammation and insect bites.

Chamomile: Chamomile is rich in azulene, a pain-relieving, wound healing component that fights inflammation and bacteria. It also has soothing and restorative properties.

Sage: Sage has strong cleansing properties that deep clean the skin. It is antiseptic and astringent and tightens pores and absorbs oils that attract dirt to the skin.

Vegetable glycerin: Attracts moisture to the skin and keeps products from drying out

Stearic Acid: A white waxy powder obtained from animal or vegetable fats (we use only vegetable) It gives stiffness to creams and helps to keep oil and water combined.

Vitamin E: Believed to protect body fat from breakdown and slow the aging process. It also helps normal muscles and body tissues grow and remain healthy. Acts as a natural preservative.

Tea tree oil: From the Australian tea tree, . Germicide, fungicide and antiseptic. This oil is commonly used for treating acne, cuts, burns, and insect bites.

Grapefruit seed extract: Extracted from grapefruit seeds and used in combination with glycerin as a preservative, bactericide, and stabilizer.

Aloe Vera: The leaves from the Aloe plant contain a sap that is believed to promote healing and soothe skin

Honey: Honey contains many vital vitamins and minerals and has a very high potassium content which makes it almost impossible for bacteria to survive in it. Honey is also one of the best known humectants (materials had hold moisture)
